About Amani Natural Reserve

The Amani Nature Reserve (ANR) is one of Tanzania's most important ecological treasures, situated in the East Usambara Mountains. Unlike the famous safari parks, Amani is a sanctuary for nature lovers, birdwatchers, and researchers, known for its incredible biodiversity.

Flora (Plants): Known as the "Home of the African Violet" (Saintpaulia), which is an endangered flowering houseplant that thrives naturally here. The reserve boasts the second-highest diversity of plant species in Africa.

Avifauna (Birds): A birdwatching paradise, ranked among the world's best birding sites. It is home to many endemic and rare species, including the Amani Sunbird and the Usambara Eagle Owl.

Other Wildlife: It hosts rare reptiles and amphibians, notably the endangered Three-Horned Chameleon, as well as various primates like blue monkeys and red colobus monkeys.
