Lake Manyara National Park

The Jewel of the Rift

About Lake Manyara

Nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a scenic gem. It is famous for its tree-climbing lions, a rare behavioral trait seen in very few places. The park transitions from a lush groundwater forest—home to huge troops of baboons—to the shimmering alkaline lake that is often tinted pink by thousands of flamingos.

It is a compact park that packs a diverse range of habitats into a small area.
